Senior Minister from Singapore visits Assam Startup – the nest

The honourable Senior Minister from Singapore, Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam, visited Assam Startup – the nest on 4 July, along with Mr. Wong Wie Kuen, High Commissioner, Singapore and a team of officials from the Republic of Singapore. The visiting delegates were accompanied by Shri Bimal Borah, Minister of Industries, Commerce and Public Enterprise, Govt. of Assam.

The Chief Operating Officer of Assam Startup and IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, Mr. Pranjal Konwar walked the august visitors through the products by the incubated startups, exhibited on the occasion.

A crucial meeting followed, wherein Mr. Konwar apprised the delegates about the Assam Startup initiative and proposed a few collaboration possibilities. There was a unanimous agreement on initiating a startup exchange program with immediate effect. Further, Mr. Shanmugaratnam was upbeat about the proposal to host the local startups in Singapore for attending the capacity building workshops and bootcamps.

 

The Senior Minister expressed his happiness with the quality of solutions innovated by the startups in Assam, a few of which, according to him, could be replicated in Singapore.
